July 2006 - The great Celsus Library at Ephesus. The space available for the library was very narrow so the design of the facade incorporates an optical illusion to make it appear wider than it really is. Something to do with the middle columns being very tall and the top ones being shorter, narrower and more widely spaced. On the steps leading up to the library you can see an insolent-looking group of layabouts. These are the French students who invaded our bus and kicked us out. When they saw us sitting on the steps of the library where they wanted to pose for a group photo they said "Oh look, it's those two girls from the bus. We'll make them move again."
